Almost 80 million expected to travel over Thanksgiving in record-breaking getaway

Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon next week will be the busiest times on the roads — but Thanksgiving Day is “typically clear.”

Almost 80 million people will hit the roads and airways this Thanksgiving, with traveler numbers surpassing pre-pandemic levels, the AAA predicts.

Journeys of 50 miles or more will be made by 79.9 million people in the holiday period — an increase of 1.7 million from last year and 2 million more than in 2019.

REAL ID Deadline

Beginning May 7, 2025, a REAL ID-compliant license or an acceptable alternative will be required for domestic air travel and access to federal facilities. Travelers without the proper ID will not be permitted to pass through security checkpoints after this date.

Apple debuts a cool new way to help airlines find your missing bag

Apple is giving travelers another reason to pack an AirTag in their checked bag.

The tech giant announced on Monday that it will enable a new feature, dubbed Share Item Location, for AirTags and other accessories that are connected to the Find My network. This feature will allow travelers to share the location of an item with a third party, including airlines.

You'll be able to share a link to a missing AirTag by clicking through the Find My app on your Apple device. Recipients of the link will be able to view "a website that shows a location of the item on an interactive map.
