SHORT'S TRAVEL NEWS

REMINDER - Keep Your Travel Profile Updated for Seamless Bookings

To ensure a smooth travel booking experience, it’s essential to keep your profile in the Short’s Travel Portal up to date. Completing your profile—including adding a form of payment—will help avoid delays and disruptions.

Steps to update your profile: How to guide

  1. Log in to your Short’s Travel Portal.

  2. Navigate to the My Profile section.

  3. Complete or update all required fields, including:

    • First, middle, and last name (ensure they match your government-issued ID to avoid travel disruptions)

    • Cell Phone Number

    • Date of Birth

    • Gender

    • Email Address

    • Sport or Department

    • Add Your Form of Payment

Why it matters:

  • Taking a few minutes now to update your profile ensures quicker, smoother, and more efficient travel arrangements in the future.

  • Hotels require a credit card guarantee to confirm bookings.

  • Many accounts restrict the use of a company card for hotel guarantees, so saving your personal credit card information helps to quickly secure your reservation, reducing the chances of availability issues or rate increases.

Why Are Airlines Struggling to Keep Up With Soaring Demand?

Global aviation markets are experiencing robust demand, with the North Atlantic and Europe among the star performers. Asia was slower in recovering from the pandemic slump but is now moving in the right direction.

This demand is filling planes and boosting profitability, but another key factor is driving buoyant results – constrained capacity.

Under normal circumstances, airlines plan timetables more than a year in advance. The general objective is for tickets to be on sale from 12 months before departure. There is always flexibility to make changes, additions, and deletions closer in, but flights are more likely to perform better with sufficient lead time to promote and build up bookings...read more

If you like the current Southwest Airlines boarding process, you're in luck

Southwest Airlines is getting set to completely overhaul its seating setup, with its first-ever assigned and extra-legroom seats officially launching next year. Even after the changes, though, passengers will still get an individual boarding number at check-in, the airline tells TPG. And, just as they do today, passengers will continue to line up at the gate, single-file, along its signature boarding area posts.

All things considered, Southwest's future boarding process will look remarkably similar to the one-of-a-kind setup used today — a process executives last year said they hoped to use as a blueprint even as the airline shifts to assigned seating...read more

Travelers have a lot to look forward to from American Airlines in 2025: New business-class suites, premium lounges and satellite Wi-Fi are coming, as well as a full recovery of its Chicago and Philadelphia hubs.

Those are just a few items that American CEO Robert Isom and other executives outlined during the airline's fourth-quarter earnings call Thursday. The outlook is mostly bright with, as Isom put it, "robust demand across the board" for air travel...read more
