The Olympics and World Cup Are Coming — U.S. Tourism Commission Calls For These Fixes

The U.S. risks missing out on billions in tourism revenue unless it modernizes its travel infrastructure, according to a new report.

The Commission on Seamless and Secure Travel, run by the U.S. Travel Association, called on Wednesday for a White House-led task force to oversee a sweeping overhaul of the nation's aviation security, visa processing, and customs procedures.

The commission's recommendations could unlock $95 billion in additional spending by visitors to the U.S. over the next four years as the country hosts major sporting events, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics...read more

 

 

REAL ID Deadline

Beginning May 7, 2025, a REAL ID-compliant license or an acceptable alternative will be required for domestic air travel and access to federal facilities. Travelers without the proper ID will not be permitted to pass through security checkpoints after this date.

Southwest Airlines Launches First-Ever Redeye Flights on 5 Routes

Southwest Airlines has officially joined the ranks of carriers offering overnight travel, marking a significant milestone in the company's 50-plus-year history. The airline's first-ever redeye flights landed on February 14, Valentine’s Day. Passengers and crew celebrated the launch of these inaugural redeyes with special Southwest swag and celebrations at the gate.

“While redeye flights will make up a small portion of Southwest’s overall schedule, they bring additional connectivity and more itineraries to transcontinental and Hawaii markets. As an example, Southwest will offer Honolulu (HNL) to Las Vegas (LAS) in April, and this one redeye flight increases the number of itineraries the airline can offer Customers by 50% as they connect to other parts of the network,” the airline wrote..read more



American to Expand Chicago O'Hare Network

American Airlines in 2025 will add nine new destinations from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, the carrier announced Thursday. Additionally, American in June will expand its capacity to and from the airport with larger aircraft and 40 percent more premium seats than last summer.

Some but not all of the new summer destinations are mostly a leisure play. New service beginning June 5 include flights between Chicago and each Bismarck, N.D., Boise, Idaho, and Spokane, Wash. Each will operate with Embraer 175 aircraft. ​​​​​​...read more

Can you pack your meds in a pill case and more questions answered

One of the more popular questions we get from travelers is: “Can I travel with my medication?” The answer is yes, with some qualifiers. Here are a few tips that you might find helpful.

  • It is not necessary to present your medication to, or notify an officer about any medication you are traveling with unless it is in liquid form (See next bullet).

  • Medication in liquid form is allowed in carry-on bags in excess of 3.4 ounces in reasonable quantities for the flight. It is not necessary to place medically required liquids in a zip-top bag. However, you must tell the officer that you have medically necessary liquids at the start of the screening checkpoint process.
